Veggie Biking on Washington and Old Dominion Trail, Virginia

Please join us for Veggie Bike Ride on the Washington and Old Dominion Trail, Virginia.
We’ll meet at 9:30am on Saturday Sep 24, 2022 at [Barcroft Community Center Parking lot](https://goo.gl/maps/zHsGxZMpXaZ8jdBM8).
In case of adverse weather: we will meet on Sunday, Sep 25 – please sign up for the [Rain Contingency event](https://www.meetup.com/vegan-dc-md-va/events/288187709?utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=share-btn_savedevents_share_modal&utm_source=link).
We will ride West towards Reston on the trail, and turn back wherever we find the ~15mile mark marker. On the way back we will stop at Amma (and maybe some coffee) as well.
This event is for those who are fully vaccinated only. Also please do not attend if you are sick or have been near someone who thinks they may have or have been exposed to COVID-19. VSDC greatly appreciates your cooperation.
Length: ~30 miles

Difficulty level: strenuous
Elevation change: about 800 ft up and down
Bike time: ~3 hours at moderate+ pace (10 mph)
Total time: ~5 hours

Break and Lunch spot: Amma Vegetarian
Weather: we will not be riding in rain, windy (greater than 10mph) or cold (less that 50 F) conditions so stay tuned for Comments on this page.
Food/Water: Bring your own vegan snacks and (non-alcoholic) beverage to enjoy. Please carry plenty of water!
During the ride: we will plan to slow often to let the group gather together.

* Practice safe biking habits including:
* Wearing a bike helmet
* Keeping a safe distance between each other (bikes don’t have brake lights and tailgating can easily result in crashes)
* Avoid side by side riding unless the road gives us ample opportunity
