Southern Roots is a vegan baked goods company recreating southern classics with a vegan twist. This minority owned business was founded by Marcus and Cara Pitts both born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. Marcus went to Texas Tech and graduated with a degree in architecture. Cara has always had a servant heart with years of experience in customer service retail leadership and working Quality Assurance for Medicare and Retirement. Her path led her to becoming a caregiver for her grandmother, and when her husband changed his eating to plant based it set off a movement for their family. She noticed a world of change in her grandmother's health by introducing more plant based foods into her daily life and wanted to showcase how you don't have to give up anything to enjoy cruelty free desserts! Marcus and Cara are alumni of Launch SA's Break Fast and Launch culinary program, have been featured on SA Live talk show, featured on Tabitha Brown's Very Good Mondays and can't wait to hear how you like their products and be able to give back to their community.
