Your favorite vegan queer cafe

Women + worker owned, here to feed you from 8am - 6pm Thursdays-Sundays and located at 2 Morgan Avenue in BK, NY.

This cafe is the product of Pisces Rising Vegan and Seitan’s Helper meeting and combining forces. You have loved us separately at pop-ups around the city for years and now we finally have a brick and mortar location in Brooklyn for y’all to visit! The same cakes and pastries from Pisces Rising Vegan and seitan and sandwiches from Seitan’s Helper, plus new fun things!

With this cafe we aim to create an inclusive space where everyone can feel comfortable and at home. While we don’t have large amounts of space, we hope that whenever you come in you can feel the love that we put in everything we touch.

We are employee owned! That means the four people you will see day in day out (Amanda, Cheyanne, Christina, + Lars) working the cafe are the four people that actually own the company. This is a different structure than the standard restaurant industry, and we would like to be a part of the change that we want to see in the industry. All four of us have been a part of the NYC food industry for years, and have seen the good, bad, and ugly. Using our experiences we want to take the good parts and work on fixing the bad and the ugly. When you shop here, know that your money is going directly to the people you see and the place you are in.

We only have a handful of worker owned cafes and restaurants to look to, and even smaller amount that value intersectional politics. We believe there is no liberation for animals until there is liberation for all marginalized people in the world. The food industry sees people as disposable similar to how the meat industry sees animals. Every person who works in the food industry and in the supply chain is valuable part of our industry and we want to put our money where our mouths are.

And yes, everything here is vegan: the food, the workers, and everything in between.
