We are a regenerative, family owned and operated farm-to-kitchen venture, creating delicious, life-giving, and cutting-edge foods on Maui.
Niu Life Kitchen was created in 2016 by Chef Sha’anan Fader and Ashley Stewart. Together, they hold over 40 years of experience and training in exceptional alternative food service.
Sha’anan and Ashley live with their family on a farm in Kula, up the hill from where Ashley grew up. Their friendship began in 2005 when Ashley tasted her first living-foods cheesecake, crafted by Sha’anan during his tenure as head chef at Alive & Well in Kahului. Sha’anan’s commitment to innovating texture and flavor in raw vegan food was matched by Ashley’s passion for health and nutrition.
The Niu Life Kitchen Farm in Kula—growing kalo, bananas, herbs, greens, onions, root vegetables, citrus, avocado, and more—supplies our Deli kitchen in Wailuku, along with other farms around the island.
Niu Life Kitchen was born out of Sha’anan and Ashley’s joint vision: To bring healthy food to the people, reconnecting us to the vibrancy of our bodies and the land.
