This Black- and woman-owned fried chick’n shop started in 2020 as a food truck that quickly gained popularity for its fried chick’n sandwiches and more. Now in early 2022, owner Nkoyo Adakama has opened her first brick and mortar in West Oakland (formerly the vegan Gay4U location).
The hearty sandwiches are flavorful and textured, from the Nashville (not very) Hot Chick to Baucy B*tch buffalo to Main Chick regular fried chick’n—they come in a vegan brioche bun, with pickles, coleslaw, and different sauces. You can also get boneless wings or chick’n tenders with your choice of dipping sauce (like honey mustard), plus Cajun fries, and sides like mac and cheese or deep-fried seasoned corn.
It’s all to-go and can take a little time, so order before coming over for pick-up.
