Thank you for visiting the site. I hope you’re enjoying it so far. My name is RG Enriquez. I am a vegan Filipina who believes that Filipino food can be vegan, healthy, and delicious, without losing its soul.
I grew up in the Philippines until I was 15 years old. In 1997, my family and I migrated to the San Francisco Bay Area. Through my years of easing into a new life in the US, food has become a comforting reminder of my Filipino culture and identity.
Notoriously, Filipino food is known to have plenty of meat and animal products. When I became vegan in college, I didn’t want to give up the dishes that reminded me of home. So, I’ve chased the flavors of my childhood favorites and veganized them. Through my journey of relearning the food of my culture, I have come to realize that with the right vegan substitutions, I can make the meatiest Filipino dish without the meat. With my mom’s guidance in the kitchen and stamp of approval, I am now sharing this revelation with you.
