Vegan Food on the East Coast

The east coast has amazingly delicious vegan restaurants! New York and Philly have a lot of fully vegan restaurants! New York is actually the number one state for being vegan-friendly. Washington is coming in on that list as the number 3 vegan-friendly state. You will be able to find donut shops, bakeries, Italian restaurants, burger spots, and delis which are all 100% vegan.

NuVegan Cafe

The first restaurant we tried on the east coast was NuVegan Cafe in Washington, DC. We got a cheese steak, and man, was that sandwich delicious. The first bite was full of flavors. It was made with in-house created seitan. The texture of the seitan was very firm, like a steak texture. It had two different sauces on top with pepper and onions. This cheesesteak was like no other and very tasty. I would rate this place 10 out of 10. If you’re in the Washington, DC, area, this place is a great place to try. Looking forward to returning to try the other items on the menu. 

La Lus Cafe 

You can find this restaurant in New Jersey in the Beverly area. This place has been open since 2021, serving up whole food plant-based dishes. A lot of the dishes are made with mushrooms, quinoa, greens, and Mac and cheese. The restaurant has a large sitting area with a beautiful painting of the sun on the wall that just brightens up the room. The menu has a lot of options ranging from soups, salads, burgers, meatloaf, and banana pudding. It’s a great southern-style vegan restaurant. The service was great, and a very nice place to visit. Located next to the Delaware river, this place is such a beautiful location to try. 

Batter & Crumbs 

Philly has a wide range of fully vegan restaurants. Batter & Crumbs is a baking company. This place is rated the top bakery in Philadelphia. Offering daily selected freshly baked goods like cookies, pies, and cakes, as well as serving unique flavored coffees and teas. The cafe has a beautiful atmosphere. They also serve savory lunch items like subs, sandwiches, salads, and breakfast burritos. All the bakery goods, coffees, and teas are very tasty and uniquely flavored. Even if you’re looking for a customized cake for a special occasion, you can order from them. Great place to stop by if you are in the Philadelphia area. 

Coletta

Coletta is located in New York, right near Gramercy Park. This is a vegan and kosher Italian restaurant. When you first walk up, it’s a beautiful building and even more luxurious on the inside. It’s an upscale Italian vegan restaurant and a great date night spot. Serving Italian cuisine, including pasta, steak, chicken, risotto, gluten-free pizzas and desserts, all 100% animal free. Every single plate gives such a real high-class restaurant feel. This should be your first stop when you are visiting New York. 

You will definitely find amazing places when you’re thinking about traveling to the east coast. I promise you won’t regret your trip. Your tastebuds will thank you.
