A spiced warming red mulled wine flavored using cinnamon sticks, nutmeg, oranges, cloves, star anise, and any other fall spices as desired.
My Story
I first tried mulled wine at a Christmas market in Germany. It was so fragrant and warming, almost like a hug in a cup! I've since taken to making a batch at home during the fall or winter season. It's especially great for bringing along and sharing with others at a campfire or bonfire.

Ingredients
- 1 bottle red wine
- 1 large cinnamon stick
- 2 sliced oranges
- 1 vanilla pod
- 1 lemon zest
- 1 star anise
- 4 cloves
- pinch nutmeg
- sugar to taste may use syrup, coconut sugar, agave, etc.
- other spices as desired
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a pot on the stove
- Simmer for 10-15 minutes
- Let sit for flavors to infuse 25 minutes
- Reheat and serve
- May garnish with spices as desired
