Vegan Mulled Wine

A spiced warming red mulled wine flavored using cinnamon sticks, nutmeg, oranges, cloves, star anise, and any other fall spices as desired.

My Story

I first tried mulled wine at a Christmas market in Germany. It was so fragrant and warming, almost like a hug in a cup! I've since taken to making a batch at home during the fall or winter season. It's especially great for bringing along and sharing with others at a campfire or bonfire.

  • 1 bottle red wine
  • 1 large cinnamon stick
  • 2 sliced oranges
  • 1 vanilla pod
  • 1 lemon zest
  • 1 star anise
  • 4 cloves
  • pinch nutmeg
  • sugar to taste may use syrup, coconut sugar, agave, etc.
  • other spices as desired


  • Combine all ingredients in a pot on the stove
  • Simmer for 10-15 minutes
  • Let sit for flavors to infuse 25 minutes
  • Reheat and serve
  • May garnish with spices as desired
