RawASF was born out of a difficult period in the life of its owners: Quan Nguyen and Catherine Trinh. At 33, it was revealed by Quan Nguyen’s doctor that he was at risk of developing life-threatening heart disease. As hypertension and arthritis plagued his everyday life as a tech executive, Nguyen’s quality of life continued to suffer and sought treatment for his elevated stress levels and declining health. Doctors provided him with three intervention options: lifelong medication, coronary surgery for a pacemaker, or electric shock therapy to the heart.
Nguyen’s wife, Catherine Trinh, fought health battles of her own with low blood pressure and a hyperthyroid diagnosis that threatened her pregnancy. Unsatisfied with these medical options, they courageously resigned from their jobs and embarked on a renewed life path of spiritual, mental, and physical healing, and discovered they weren’t alone in their journey.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 1 in every 4 American deaths (every 37 seconds) are heart disease-related. To reverse this trend, their search for alternative solutions led them to Herman Siu, a fifth-generation Shaolin Monk living in Los Angeles. Siu’s father, a mentor of Bruce Lee, provided Siu with a unique upbringing alongside the martial arts icon’s evolution.
Within the first two minutes of their interaction, Siu detected Nguyen’s heart condition and advised him against foods containing animal-based products and acidic, highly-inflammatory meals. He also encouraged Trinh to address her chronic low blood pressure with leafy greens and hot foods consumption. Following Siu’s suggestions, they adopted a plant-based diet and and tracked their progress through blood work and pharmaceutical-free visits to physicians.
Within weeks, noticeable improvements were astounding. Nguyen felt lighter and lost unhealthy body weight. Blood tests also revealed normalized HDL and LDL level, as well as calcium and protein levels trending upward. Trinh’s blood pressure was returned to normal, and with her dizziness subsiding, gave birth to a healthy baby girl.
What started out as a desire to change their personal health habits, became the inspiration for Quan and Catherine’s founding of RāwASF and its mission to empower people to take charge of their health.
