83% of Veganuary Participants To Make Long-Term Diet Changes

Veganuary Dietary Changes

According to data released, the majority of people who participated in this year’s Veganuary movement aim to make lasting dietary adjustments.

This year, the global campaign encouraging people to go vegan for the month of January attracted more individuals than ever before, with over 629,000 people joining up.

Participants came from 228 nations and territories, with the exception of North Korea and Tajikistan, where internet access is either prohibited or severely restricted.

According to a Veganuary poll, more than a third (36%) of non-vegans who joined up for the challenge aim to continue vegan once the challenge is over.

Twenty percent indicated the main reason they stayed vegan was because it was easier than they imagined. Another 20% indicated the biggest reason was the health advantages they gained during the challenge. Participants reported feeling more energized, having a better mood, having “better” skin, and losing weight.

Furthermore, 74% of those who aren’t vegan want to reduce their use of animal products by half from now on. Furthermore, 76% say they are extremely or very likely to try veganism again in the future.

For the Animals, Humans, and the World

“These incredible results show that Veganuary is so much more than a one-month pledge as taking part leads to lasting diet change for most participants… With 83 percent of our 2022 participants planning to at least halve their intake of animal products permanently – including 36 percent who plan to stay fully vegan, Veganuary really is driving positive change for the planet, people, and animals,” Veganuary’s international head of communications Toni Vernelli said.

According to data given by the group earlier this month, the month-long pledge had a huge impact on animals. According to Veganuary, this year’s effort saved the lives of around 2.16 million animals in just 31 days.

“We work very hard to equip our participants with as much useful advice, delicious recipes and friendly support as possible, so it’s very rewarding to know that 98 percent would recommend Veganuary to others! This figure has been consistent for several years, demonstrating the value of Veganuary’s work in making plant-based eating easy and accessible for everyone,” she added.
