Starbucks India has partnered with Imagine Meats to introduce the country’s first vegan menu.
Imagine Meats, founded last year by Bollywood actresses Genelia and Riteish Deshmukh, sells a variety of plant-based items in stores across India. Mutton Seekh Kebab, Chicken Keema, and Spiced Sausage are among them.
A Vegan Sausage Croissant Roll, a Vegan Croissant Bun, and a Vegan Hummus Kebab Wrap are among the three new vegan alternatives designed by the company for Starbucks.
“Did you say vegan? We got you,” Starbucks posted on Instagram. “Introducing our spectacular range of vegan delights that are an absolute treat for your taste buds. [Genelia] and [Riteish] can testify to that.”
The new alternatives are now accessible in a limited number of locations across India.
Starbucks’ Expanding Vegan Menu
This is the first time Starbucks has released a specific vegan menu in India, but the coffee brand has other plant-based options in other places across the world.
Customers can order the Beyond Meat sandwich in the United Kingdom, an Impossible Sausage breakfast in the United States, and plant-based crab cakes in Hong Kong.
Vegan desserts, meatless meatballs, and dairy-free drinks are also available in a variety of locales around the world.
Kevin R. Johnson, the former CEO of Starbucks, remarked last year that “the most dominant shift in consumer behavior is this whole shift to plant-based… That is a shift both in beverage and in food.”
“On the beverage side, this is why we’ve introduced all the alternative milk, whether it’s almond milk, soy milk, oat milk, all of that’s important,” he stated.
“And then on the food side, you see what we’ve done with things like the Impossible Sausage Breakfast Sandwich and you’re seeing more and more plant-based proteins in our food menu.”
